USPA NEWS - No leader nor country, developed or developing, is immune from cross-border human trafficking punishment, for countries with weak governance, porous borders facilitate many types of trafficking, as goods, people, and money can move relatively undetected and unencumbered; sooner or later justice will be served.
Modern slavery is an umbrella term encompassing slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour and human trafficking. Victims of modern slavery are unable to leave their situation of exploitation, controlled by threats, punishment, violence, coercion and deception. Slavery violates human rights, denying people of their right to life, freedom and security.
Human trafficking impacts people of all backgrounds, and people are trafficked for a variety of purposes. Men are often trafficked into hard labor jobs, while children are trafficked into labor positions in textile, agriculture and fishing industries. Women and girls are typically trafficked into the commercial sex industry, prostitution or other forms of sexual exploitation. Not all slaves are trafficked, but all trafficking victims are victims of slavery. Human trafficking is a particularly cruel type of slavery because it removes the victim from all that is familiar to her, rendering her completely isolated and alone, often unable to speak the language of her captors or fellow victims.
Human trafficking is an extremely profitable business. The International Labor Organization (ILO) estimates that human trafficking generates US$150.2 billion in profit each year. modern day trafficking is a type of slavery that involves the transport or trade of people for the purpose of work. According to the U.N., about 2.5 million people around the world are ensnared in the web of human trafficking at any given time.

If the brutality and inhumanity of human traffickers are exposed in a court of law, surely, we would be one step closer to ending human trafficking. If we turn a blind eye to this, we are condoning this horrific crime to go on and giving permission to destroy the future of many countries.
